Every great flock starts somewhere—and so does every blog. Our collection might be small for now, but just like chicks in spring, it's growing fast and full of personality. Each blog post is a fresh-picked peek into our chicken-keeping adventures, lessons learned (sometimes the hard way), and the occasional poultry-induced chaos that makes this lifestyle so cluckin’ memorable.

Whether you're a seasoned chicken wrangler or someone who's just wandered in out of curiosity (or because a chicken meme sent you here), there’s something for everyone. From coop construction mishaps to heartwarming egg-collecting tales with our grandson Zaine, these blogs are little snapshots of our feather-filled life. So browse, chuckle, and check back often—because we’re always hatching something new!

What happens when a retired couple combines curiosity, determination, a love of animals, and just enough free time to make questionable but delightful life choices? Apparently… chickens. What began as a simple interest quickly escalated into coop plans, breed research, egg dreams, and a full-fledged feathered adventure. Ellen brings the warmth, wisdom, and practical heart of the operation, while Paul contributes technical wizardry, humor, and the kind of enthusiasm that can turn “maybe we should get chickens” into an entire website before the coffee cools. Together, they’ve discovered that chicken keeping isn’t just about fresh eggs—it’s about laughter, learning, family memories, and occasionally realizing the birds are running the household now.
